FTMO Profit Drops 59% Despite Record Revenue as Founders Target Changes at OANDA
# FTMO Profit Drops 59% Despite Record Revenue as Founders Target Changes at OANDA
**Prop trading firm FTMO recorded another year of strong revenue growth in 2025, but profitability fell sharply as higher trader payouts, volatile markets and rising costs put pressure on the group's bottom line.**
FTMO generated approximately **CZK 8.8 billion ($423 million) in revenue during 2025**, marking a new sales record for the company.
However, net profit moved in the opposite direction.
The firm's net income fell **59% to approximately CZK 782 million ($37.5 million)**, compared with roughly $90.7 million a year earlier.
The result pushed FTMO's estimated net profit margin down to around **8.9% in 2025**, from approximately 28% in 2024.
FTMO co-founder Marek Vašíček described 2025 as one of the most difficult periods the prop trading industry has faced in recent years.
Trader Payouts Put Pressure on FTMO
Market conditions appear to have played a major role in the decline in profitability.
According to figures reported by CzechCrunch and subsequently cited by TradeInformer, the amount FTMO expected to pay traders ended up **82% higher than the company had forecast at the end of 2024**.
Periods of strong market volatility can create challenging conditions for prop firms because successful traders may generate significantly larger payouts than firms have modelled.
Gold was particularly volatile during the latter stages of 2025, creating opportunities for traders positioned in the metal.
At the same time, competition across the prop trading industry continued to intensify.
FTMO's **marketing expenditure increased by 85%**, adding further pressure to margins despite the company's continued revenue growth.
The numbers illustrate the scale of the change.
FTMO generated approximately **$323 million in revenue and $90.7 million in net profit in 2024**. A year later, revenue had increased to around **$423 million**, while profit had dropped to approximately **$37.5 million**.
FTMO Says Lessons Were Learned From 2025
Despite the decline in earnings, FTMO's management has indicated that conditions have improved during 2026.
Vašíček said the company had learned from the challenges experienced during the previous year.
The group's expansion into futures has also provided another source of growth, with CzechCrunch reporting that FTMO recorded approximately **25% year-on-year growth during the first half of 2026**.
FTMO has continued expanding beyond its traditional forex and CFD prop trading business as it attempts to build a broader trading group.
That strategy has included the launch of FTMO Futures and, most significantly, the acquisition of global brokerage group OANDA.
FTMO Founders Take More Active Role at OANDA
FTMO completed its acquisition of **OANDA Global Corporation in December 2025**, bringing one of the industry's best-known retail brokerage businesses into the FTMO group.
The acquisition has since resulted in changes at the top of OANDA.
FTMO founders **Otakar Šuffner and Marek Vašíček took joint leadership roles as co-CEOs**, while OANDA's previous CEO Gavin Bambury stepped down following discussions over the future direction of the business.
The FTMO founders have made clear that further changes are planned.
Šuffner acknowledged that OANDA's recent performance had not met the group's expectations and said FTMO intends to make changes as it works towards creating what it describes as a **global trading powerhouse**.
Despite the concerns surrounding OANDA's current performance, FTMO's founders have maintained high expectations for the acquisition.
FTMO Builds Beyond Traditional Prop Trading
The financial results highlight an interesting period in FTMO's development.
The company achieved its **highest reported revenue to date**, yet simultaneously experienced a substantial contraction in profitability.
At the same time, FTMO is moving beyond its original prop trading model through futures trading and its ownership of OANDA.
The challenge for the group will now be converting its growing scale into stronger profitability while integrating and improving the performance of its brokerage operations.
**FTMO's 2025 results demonstrate that rapid revenue growth in the prop trading industry does not necessarily translate into higher profits, particularly when trader payouts, acquisition costs, marketing expenditure and volatile market conditions rise at the same time.**
